I had the privilege of representing Hyphen SCS at the FICCI MASSMERIZE 2024 roundtable on “Elevating Logistics and Warehousing: Ensuring Supply Chain Excellence in FMCG, Retail, and E-Commerce.”

It was an inspiring session, especially engaging with Shri T K Manoj Kumar, Chairman of the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA).

Under Shri Manoj Kumar’s visionary leadership, WDRA has implemented several transformative initiatives:

🔹 e-NWR Portal:
Streamlining the registration of warehouses and managing electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipts (e-NWRs).

🔹 Reduced Net Worth Requirements:
Lowering the barriers for warehousemen by reducing the net worth requirements, fostering a more inclusive and dynamic warehousing sector.

🔹 Fee Waivers:
Waiving application and renewal fees for two years, making warehousing more accessible and encouraging growth within the industry.

🔹 Cost-Bearing Inspections:
WDRA now covers the costs of warehouse inspections, ensuring higher standards without additional financial burdens on warehouse operators.

His extensive experience, spanning over 34 years in the Indian Administrative Service and significant roles in food and logistics sectors, brings invaluable insights to the table.

His dedication to standardizing, digitizing, and optimizing the warehousing ecosystem is truly commendable.

During our discussion, Shri Manoj Kumar graciously acknowledged the initiatives at Hyphen SCS, emphasizing the importance of educating the highly fragmented and offline warehousing segment.

We also highlighted the need for an Indian Warehousing Grading System that is both practical and actionable, tailored to India’s unique context.

Additionally, we advocated for a simpler, single-window process for the compliances and clearances required to build and operate warehouses efficiently.
