Inspiring meeting with T V Narendran Sir, CEO, Tata Steel and President, (AIMA)
It was a true privilege to meet T V Narendran Sir , CEO & Managing Director, Tata Steel, and President, All India Management Association (AIMA)
Sir was kind enough to patiently hear Young Leaders Council AIMA’s pursuit of building the next generation of leaders for India.
His insights, suggestions, and initiatives were deeply thoughtful—ideas that will not only further distinguish AIMA YLC as the apex youth council of the country, but also create meaningful impact and experiences capable of transforming the perspective and outlook of young leaders across India.
What stood out most was his humility and unwavering belief that youth are a critical pillar in the nation’s growth journey.
That conviction, coming from a leader of his stature, filled me with immense energy and renewed vigor.
His leadership journey is truly inspiring.
As CEO & MD of Tata Steel, he has overseen the company’s organic and inorganic growth, bringing over 36 years of experience in the Mining and Metals industry.
He currently serves on the Board of Tata Steel Limited, is the Chairman of Tata Steel Europe, and Vice Chairman of the World Steel Association.
A Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, he also contributes significantly to India’s academic and institutional ecosystem as Chairman of the Board of Governors of XLRI Jamshedpur and IIT Kharagpur, and as a member of the Council of IISc Bangalore.
He has previously served as President of CII and President of the Indian Institute of Metals, and was Co-Chair of the Mining & Metals Governors Council at the WEF.
An alumnus of NIT Trichy (ME) and IIM Calcutta (MBA), a Chevening Scholar, and an INSEAD AMP participant, his journey is a powerful reminder of what principled leadership and lifelong learning can achieve.

Under your leadership, I am confident we will not only see a stronger and more vibrant YLC community but also best-in-class leaders from India making their mark globally.
It was also an absolute honour representing AIMA YLC and Hyphen SCS at the AIMA Council of Management Meeting held in Kolkata on 23rd Dec 2025.
Being part of a council comprising some of the most distinguished and inspiring public figures in the country was a truly enriching experience.
