TiE Delhi-NCR: Alok Mittal’s Mentorship for Startup Growth

Privileged to once again meet and learn from Alok Mittal Sir, Executive Chairman of Indifi, President TiE Delhi-NCR, Co-Founder Plaksha University, and a respected angel investor, during the mentorship session for the TiE Gold Cohort organized by TiE Delhi-NCR.

This wasn’t my first meeting with him. Years ago, as an Indian Institute of Foreign Trade E-Cell coordinator, I stood before him and Manish Kheterpal Sir, nervously pitching my business plan for Dont Give Up World – India’s largest mental health and motivational platform.

With a conservative mindset, I called it a ₹5 Cr opportunity.
Alok Sir smiled and said words that completely shifted my perspective:
💬 “You are the founder of India’s biggest motivational community and you are playing so conservative and safe. I don’t see this as a ₹5 Cr opportunity… I see it as at least a ₹500 Cr opportunity.”

Back then, mental health was hardly discussed, and there were barely any platforms working on it. To hear him call it a massive future opportunity, years before it became a multi-billion-dollar sector, showed his visionary ability to see beyond the present.

Fast forward to today – from pitching a motivational platform as a student to now being a real-life founder of Hyphen SCS, India’s biggest warehousing & fulfilment platform – meeting him again has been truly heartwarming.

This time, his guidance was equally invaluable. He not only gave me confidence in the potential of our venture, but also helped me understand subtle nuances – like how an investor saying “you are doing too many things” should actually be read as “higher perceived risk.” These insights are gold for any founder navigating the fundraising and scaling journey.
