He is an artist impaneled with ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations).
Ankur is the founder of an NGO called “Shine Cultural Welfare Trust” where he teaches music to economically deprived and disabled people.
He is an associate member of the “National Association for the Blind, Delhi”.
Ankur lost his eyesight when he was two, owing to the atrophy of a vital nerve connecting his eye to the cerebrum.
But he followed his passion for singing and started learning Hindustani music at the age of six, and later completed his Visharad from Prayag University, Prayagraj, in 2012.
He has learned music from the late Ustad Ameer Ahmad Khan of the Kirana Gharana, who took him under his discipleship. The singer “breathes music, day-in-day-out” and believes, “if education is food for the mind, so is music for the soul.”
With an aim to empower the disabled & economically weak people, Ankur set up an NGO Golden Shine Cultural Welfare Trust in 2018 with his friends, where he teaches them music, for free.
Over 100 students are currently pursuing various courses here. Significantly, there is no age limit for the students.
Ankur has performed at several national and international platforms, including the Buddha International Circuit, Greater Noida during the F1 Race event in 2010, and the Lions World Festival held in Kraków, Poland in 2019.
Over the years, he shared the stage with Sonu Nigam, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Richa Sharma, and other eminent singers.
Currently, he is an officer with the State Bank of India.
