Guidelines for one-pager resume for Experience 0-3 years / B-Schools

  1. The most recent resume format sent in the place mail should be used.
  2. It should be ensured that the information in the header and footer is correct.
  3. The Email ID should not appear as a hyperlink
  4. The bullet points should be properly aligned, as in the format provided
  5. Punctuation marks should not be bolded.
  6. It is suggested that hyphens be used for sub-points below the main bullet point.
  7. Exactly one character space should be left between two words.
  8. Exactly one character space should be left between punctuation and the next word.
  9. Exactly one character space should be left before and after a parenthesis.
  10. The font specified in the sample resume should be used.
  11. There should be no full stops at the end of bullet points
  12. Academic details section:
    a) Information in this block should not be bolded.
    b) It should be ensured that the name of the graduate degree/ high school exam and the name of the institution does not exceed one half of the block.
    c) If the name of the board needs to be written, it should be written along with the institution name and not along with the exam name.
    d) The name of the examination should be exactly the same as the name given in the certificate.
    e) If the percentage marks are being written then it has to be mentioned that it is
    an aggregate value (mention ā€œAggregateā€ after the value).
    f) Percentages should be rounded off to a single decimal value and the CGPA to two decimal places.
    g) The maximum value of the CGPA/CPI should be mentioned and should be with the same no. of significant digits (For e.g. 9.96/10.00).
    h) The left column should be completely left aligned and the right column should be completely right aligned.
  13. The printout should always be taken from the Computer Centre in A4 format.
  14. CAPS should be used judiciously. Italicization is suggested with long acronyms (For e.g.: Symphony instead of SYMPHONY)
  15. The option to bold points should be used judiciously. Itā€™s suggested to bold only the information which will capture the recruiterā€™s eyes and hold his/her attention during a quick glance.
  16. A balance should be maintained in the resume. Itā€™s suggested that each of the sections should have a minimum of 7-9 lines in it. If there are not that many points, then it is recommended merging it with some other section.
  17. It is not recommended to bold, quote and italicize at the same time. It is suggested to use only one of these. (For e.g. either of the following formats is advised – Symphony or Symphony. The following are not recommended ā€œSymphonyā€, ā€œSymphonyā€,
    ā€œSymphonyā€ )
  18. It is recommended that single quotes are used when necessary instead of double-quotes.
  19. The following things have to be taken care of while mentioning the work experience
    a) Overall experience in months should be mentioned in the highlighted region (not bolded).
    b) The details should be mentioned in the following format
    MM/YYYY ā€“ MM/YYYY Organization Designation
    (Left-aligned) (Center-aligned) (Right-aligned)
    c) Mention only up to four characters in the month. (For e.g. Sept instead of September)
  20. YYYY format is suggested for years.
