Book Launch : Johnson & Johnson Files by Kaunain Sheriff — When the human body becomes collateral.

I had the privilege of attending the launch of The Johnson & Johnson Files: The Indian Secrets of a Global Giant, authored by my dear friend and multiple award-winning journalist Kaunain Sheriff, National Health Editor, indianexpress.com, and published by Juggernaut Books.
It was more than a book launch — it was a gathering of courage, pain, and truth.
I was deeply moved by the stories of the patients who were present — individuals who have suffered due to Johnson & Johnson’s faulty ASR hip implants, and yet continue to fight for justice more than a decade later.
Their bravery, and that of the whistleblowers who stood up, is nothing short of inspiring.
Former Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud, who launched the book, described it as:
“A call to conscience, a demand for transparency, and a testament to the power of investigative journalism in holding even the most formidable institutions to account.”
He further remarked:
“This is not just a chronicle of corporate misdeeds — it is a documented account of institutional failure… a reminder of what happens when multinational giants enter markets with weak enforcement and vast inequality — and exploit the gap instead of elevating standards.”
“It shows how medical ethics can be eroded by commercial incentives — and how your and my body can become collateral in someone else’s financial bottomline.”
This book is journalism at its finest — relentless, ethical, and urgent.
If you care about justice, accountability, or patient rights — read this.
