Interaction with Dr Adil Najam President WWF International
Being a WWF member during my school days and being a son of the former director of the Ministry of Environment and Forests & climate change , India,
it was an amazing moment interacting and engaging with Dr. Adil Najam, incoming President of WWF International and Founding Dean Emeritus and Professor of International Relations, Earth, and Environment at Boston University – Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies (Pardee School) while representing India and Hyphen SCS during the CSC2023 – The Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference – Canada 2023 .
I was simply inspired by his ability to tell the so-called cliche climate change story in a strikingly appealing and easily absorbable manner.
His uncanny knack to correlate key KPIs and their impact and urgency with commonly understood universal parameters and visuals was very impressive.
Considering the earth to be one single country and asking us to share our perspective on this one country was a small activity that was not only thought-provoking and introspective but also made me realize that most of the time we are overcritical about trivial matters and at the same time not so critical on more pressing matters like climate change.
Climate change is for real, and we are already running late!
Change is the law of nature, and sooner or later it applies to all the cosmos!
Let’s not wait for a catastrophe to happen before we change!
The incremental delay in climate change-related measures will lead to an exponential increase in the cost of mitigating the repercussions caused by the delay.
I am not a mathematician, but one thing is for sure: it doesn’t require a rocket scientist or a financial genius to do the math!
Let’s change while we still have time!
