Excited to Attend the KPMG Transportation and Logistics Summit 2024 in Mumbai!

Pauneet Nanda and I, as co-founders of Hyphen SCS, had the incredible opportunity to participate in the KPMG Transportation and Logistics Summit 2024. The event offered a deep dive into the transformative changes reshaping the transport and logistics industry, addressing both the challenges and abundant opportunities that lie ahead.

With over 90 attendees representing key industry players—including startups, logistics service providers, policymakers, investors, consultants, and clients from road, rail, ocean, and airways—we gained valuable insights into the road ahead. These attendees collectively control a substantial percentage of India’s goods movement.

The discussions centered on how we can come together as an industry to create a cleaner, greener, more optimized, efficient, and sustainable supply chain.

We also reflected on how India’s transport and logistics industry has evolved over the decades:

Market size growth from $46 billion in 2000 to a projected ~$600 billion by 2030.
A significant shift from 63% captive and 37% outsourced in 2000 to an estimated 30% captive and 70% outsourced.
Container traffic increased from 2.4 million TEUs to ~32 million TEUs, alongside an almost 11x increase in warehousing space, with a major shift towards modern warehousing.
These trends are primarily driven by the growing GDP, urban population, and rising per capita income over the past few decades.

The four key focus areas identified were consolidation, multimodal distribution, the evolution from digitization to digitalization, and decarbonization.

At Hyphen SCS, we are committed to embracing change and fostering innovation in our mission to build a more connected, efficient, and sustainable global logistics network. The future of logistics is dynamic and full of possibilities, and we are excited to be at the forefront of this transformation.
