Yogita Raghuvanshi India’s First Woman Truck Driver!
It was a pleasure meeting the inspirational Yogita Raghuvanshi Madam while representing Hyphen SCS during the launch event of All India Transporters Welfare Association “Highway Heroes + ” campaign
She shared her life mantra of creating an invisible soundproof wall that protected her from external noise, criticism, and negativity as she continued her journey to break stereotypes.
She also laid stress on focusing on becoming a “Good person ” over becoming just a ” God person”.
She also talked about the key challenges that the driver fraternity faces on a day-to-day basis and urged the relevant stakeholders to take
affirmative actions to change the lives of the millions of drivers in India.
She talked about her journey which started with a major roadblock on the highway of life when she lost her husband around 17 years back.
She had two options:
Either start working as an apprentice lawyer or drive the truck her husband owned.
Initially, she followed her passion by working at a salon and even pursued a course in dress design.
However, her earnings were insufficient, and she eventually turned to truck driving to support her children.
Her decision to become a truck driver was driven by her commitment to her children’s future.
She realized that she could earn more as a truck driver than as a novice lawyer. Despite derogatory comments and uncomfortable stares on the road, she persevered, ultimately becoming India’s first female truck driver.
Nearly two decades later, she now owns a fleet of trucks and continues to drive with unwavering passion and excellence.
Her journey is a testament to her determination and resilience in the face of adversity.
