Had the privilege of meeting Mayank Gupta , Co-founder & COO, Zopper, while representing Hyphen SCS at the B2B Ecosystem Meetup hosted by Pentathlon Ventures and AIC Shiv Nadar University at HCL, Noida.

The session on “Building B2B Products: Customisation to Scale” was deeply relevant for anyone building in B2B, where every customer asks for customisation but every founder must still protect scalability.

What stood out for me from Mayank’s journey was the way Zopper has evolved into one of India’s leading embedded InsurTech platforms, enabling insurance products to be seamlessly integrated into partner ecosystems across finance, retail, digital commerce, and consumer platforms.

The larger learning for me was simple but powerful:

When exploring a new vertical, don’t jump in because the market looks large. Test the waters first.
Test through a focused use case.
Test through real customer demand.
Test through partner-led distribution.
Test through small but measurable pilots.
And scale only when the model starts showing repeatability.

Mayank’s journey from building digital distribution in EdTech to scaling embedded insurance through Zopper is a strong reminder that great businesses are not built by chasing every opportunity.

They are built by identifying the right adjacency, validating it deeply, and then scaling with discipline.

It was also inspiring to see how Zopper is solving a real gap in India’s insurance ecosystem by making protection more accessible, contextual, and effortless for end customers.
