Yukon Energy: Exploring the Power of the North!
Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Yukon Energy Corporation Energy and meet with Chris M. , the President and CEO while representing India and Hyphen SCS at the CSC2023 – The Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference – Canada 2023.
It was an eye-opening experience as it was my very first time stepping foot inside a power plant, and the whole journey was nothing short of fascinating.
Chris Milner welcomed us with warmth and shared his insights into the world of energy generation.
We delved deep into discussions about the future of energy, renewables, and alternative power sources like solar, geothermal, etc.
It’s truly inspiring to see their dedication to sustainability and clean energy initiatives.
One of the key takeaways from our conversation was the immense challenges faced during the harsh sub-zero winters in the Yukon.
As the temperatures plummet, power demand surges, but energy production decreases.
The intricacies of balancing this dynamic were truly enlightening, and it underlines the importance of a resilient energy system.
During our visit, we had the privilege to witness the entire operation firsthand. We walked through the power plant and observed the various dashboards and systems that help ensure a steady power supply for the region.
The highlight, of course, was seeing the turbines in motion, converting the energy of the Yukon’s rushing waters into electricity.
This visit left me with a profound appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the Yukon Energy team.
Their commitment to powering the region sustainably and reliably is truly commendable.
It was a day filled with learning, and I’m excited to continue supporting their efforts towards a greener and more sustainable future.
