“We became logisticians by accident,” I frequently hear supply chain professionals claim. Although spoken in a lighthearted manner, the truth is that this is the grim reality of India.
Despite employing about 30 million people in India, very few people pick supply chain and logistics as a career of choice.
Some attribute it to a lack of glamour, an operationally heavy character, and significantly lower-paying jobs.
Supply chain is frequently viewed as a cost center rather than a profit center, and hence receives less attention than other verticals.
