A Chance Encounter with a Legend: Aman Nath Sir! And yes I am guilty of not donning the Kullu cap

At the Indiaspora Forum for Good in Abu Dhabi, representing Hyphen SCS & AIMA YLC, I spotted a rare sight—a gentleman wearing a Kullu cap! Being a Himachali, I had to meet this fellow pahadi. To my delight, it was Aman Nath sir, the visionary behind Neemrana Hotels and a pioneer in heritage conservation.
His session on art & culture was mesmerizing—seamlessly weaving history, architecture, and storytelling. His work has transformed India’s heritage tourism landscape, turning abandoned ruins into thriving, community-driven spaces (“Neemranification”).
Restored Neemrana Fort-Palace (1986) & launched it as India’s first heritage hotel (1991)
Authored 13 books on history, art & architecture, with two winning national awards
Won UNESCO & national awards for heritage conservation
Awarded France’s highest civilian honor – Chevalier de l’Ordre national de la Légion d’Honneur
Received the Condé Nast Lifetime Achievement Award (2017)
Adventurer – Walked 400 km to Mount Kailash, explored hidden monasteries in Ladakh, and traveled to sub-Antarctic waters!
Meeting Aman Nath sir reminded me: History isn’t just preserved—it’s revived, reimagined & lived!
His passion, humility & vision were truly inspiring.
